Novi Rotary History

The Novi Rotary was chartered in 1959 and it is a part of International District 6380 and part of Global network of Community Volunteers of ROTARY INTERNATIONAL. Novi Rotary takes "Service Above Self' seriously. We believe in "People helping People". We actively support a variety of community, vocational, youth, international, and club service projects.

In the Avenue of Community Service we have funded ROTARY PARK. We have hosted Senior Citizens to a Gala Christmas Lunch and we invite the Veterans and recognize their service and treat them to a sumptuous lunch. As part of Christmas in April Program we help remodel houses of needy families in the community.

In the Youth and Vocational Avenues of Service our Club has funded thousands of dollars in scholarships and other awards for academic or Vocational excellence. We are the sponsors of a highly successful Interact Club at NOVI High School. Ours was the first Interact Club in our district.

Our International Service Projects have been centered in India, Kosovo, Bangaladesh, Srilanka (Tsunami Housing Project) and Lebanon. We have sponsored a Rehabilitation Center where they provide Jaipur foot and other orthotic appliances. We have successfully completed various Matching Grants Projects including clean water Tube wells, Low Cost Housing, Micro-credit Bank in Bangaladesh, Furnishing a University Library, books for school library, remodeling of orphanages etc Perhaps crown jewel of our achievement is our contribution of US $125,000 towards Worldwide POLIO Eradication campaign of Rotary. We have raised funds (thousands of dollars) for Kosovo Refugees, Victims of 9/11, Gujarat Earthquake Relief and Tsunami, and the Haiti Relief Fund.

Our club meets Thursday's at noon at The Suburban Collection Showcase - 46100 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48374 in Novi. Join us for a meeting, help with a project, support our Foundation; you are always welcome at Novi Rotary for fun and fellowship.
